The greatest Gift

When God came to King Solomon in a vision at night offering him whatever his heart desired.  The king did not ask for wealth, power or fame.  Instead, he asked for, “A listening heart to judge people and to be able to discern between good and evil.”   I Kings 3:9

Listen to the World

“There are few sounds in the natural world that are harsh. Even the massive rolling thunder has about it something of solemn beauty. In anthems she rolls on the beach; and in the sunny shallows there are water-harps forever making melodies.  The wind is a chorister, making like an aerial rivulet.  The world is really a melodious place full of soft sounds and harmony.”  - Archibald Rutledge

Hear Ye

In a study of leadership Max DePree tells that “in some South Pacific cultures, a speaker holds a conch shell as a symbol of a temporary position of authority. Leaders must understand who holds the conch - that is, who should be listened to and when.” Learning to listen is an  attribute .  We used to call it courtesy.

Miss Listening

"One day I took my girlfriend for a ride in my new car.  I was studying the high-tech dashboard, which had a lighted panel to alert the driver to any situation requiring attention.  During our drive, a warning light flashed, and I read the massage aloud, "Low fuel," I announced. My girlfriend, who had been staring out the window, turned to me and replied, I love you too, dear."   -Michael Hammond Advice? Go with it.
