WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME

When tomorrow starts without me, And I’m not here to see, If the sun should rise and find your eyes All filled with tears for me; I wish you wouldn’t cry  The Way you did today, While thinking of the many things. We did not get to say. I know how much you love me, As much as I love you, Each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too; But when tomorrow starts without me, Please try to understand, That an angel came and called my name, And took me by the hand, And said my place was ready, In heaven far above And that I'd have to leave behind All those I dearly love. But as I turned to walk away, A tear fell from my eye For all my life, I'd always thought, I didn't want to die. I had so much to live for, So much left to do, It seemed almost impossible  That I was leaving you. I thought of all the yesterdays, The good ones and the bad, The thought of all the love we shared, And all the fun we had. If I could relive yesterday  Just even for a little while, I...

Love is not Divisible

One night after a date with her new boyfriend, my 16-year-old daughter, Emily rushed into the kitchen to share her news.  “Mom, he kissed me!” she announced proudly. Husband and daughter have always been close, and he had been having a hard time facing the fact that she was growing up. I knew he might not wish to hear of her first kiss. Emily, however, had already told him. I was relieved and touched when she repeated their conversation. ”Dad,” she had whispered, “he kissed me.” ”Honey,” he whispered that, “I don’t blame him.”  -Rebecca Braker Love is wonderful but it can be painful if we fear that sharing it will diminish the love we receive.  The truth is that love is not divisible.

Franz and the Doll

While we were in Berlin, Franz often went to our local ark in Steiglitz. Sometimes I went with him. One day we met a little girl.  She was weeping an appeared to be in complete despair.  We spoke to her, Franz questioned her, and we learned that she had just lost her doll. At once he invented a sufficiently plausible story to explain the disappearance of the doll: “You doll has simply gone on a journey --  I know because she’s written me a letter.”   The little girl was a bit suspicious: “Have you got it on you?”  “No, I left it at home by mistake, but I’ll bring it with me tomorrow.”  Intrigued, the child has already almost forgotten what made her so upset in the first place.  And Franz went home immediately to write the letter.  He set to work with the same seriousness he displayed when composing one of his own works, and in the same state of tension he always inhabited at his table, even w...

Mutual Responsibility

A king went walking through the forest when he saw the most   beautiful bird he had ever seen.   It sat atop a tall tree.   The king commanded his servants to climb up the tree and get the bird.   One on top of the next, the servants climbed on each other’s shoulders until they reached the bird.   Suddenly the one at the bottom had to move and the rest came tumbling down.   – Mordecai Katz Our destinies are linked.   What happens to one will be felt by the rest for we are all interconnected.
