Dream

People need big dreams, expansive horizons, large challenges, stretching ambitions.  Faith gives birth to these "from-a-distance thoughts".  -unknown Dream away.  Dream large.

Always Hope

"A map of the world that does not include Utopia is not worth glancing at."  - Oscar Wilde As we enter into this sacred season let's hold on to hope with both hands.

Jacob's Ladder

Here is Rebbe Aaron’s commentary on Jacob’s ladder as described in the Torah as standing on the earth with its tip in the heavens: “Let man stand erect, his feet solidly planted on the ground and his head will touch the sky.”

Hope

Eight hundred years ago, a Persian poet and theologian dreamt of a place:  Out beyond ideas of wrong and right,  there is a field. I’ll meet you there.  When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about.

Return

“In the evening, I make a list of the mistakes I made during the day and the people I insulted, and I look for ways to correct it,” he said. “In the morning, I make a list of the dreams I have and try to realize them." -Shimon Peres

Shadow

An atheist came to a rabbi and asked him to interpret a dream. “What was your dream?” “I saw a dog gnashing his teeth at me and straining his leash to leap at me.   It was terrible!” “Do not be afraid,” the rabbi replied.   “You have nothing to fear.   You saw only your own shadow.” We all possess shadows, dark sides of ourselves that we hide and are ashamed of.   Why then did the rabbi advise to not fear his shadow? Because fear gives power.   Also, we  can never disown what we truly are.

Dream Vision

"A composer determines  every note for instruments and voices; a novelist chooses the exact placement of words and the beginnings and endings of sentence and paragraphs; the painter selects colors; the dancer enlivens gesture; the stage actor modifies pauses and rhythms of expression.  But the filmmaker must depend on an almost infinite number of variables and an unpredictable array of talents to collaborate with him in the fulfillment of his dream idea..." - Alfred Hitchcock. In our lives we capture a vision of what it means to be fully alive and communicate that vision, like a filmmaker, to every person.  The dream is evident in the way we treat people, the manner we greet them, the words we use, the clothes we wear...  In other words, our lives are the acting out of the vision of how we see life. Make the dream-actions worthy of you and God.
