“Not all people, and not all places, and not all moments are the same." - -Yevamot  Every moment and meeting is one-of-a-kind.

Rabban Gamliel was noted as saying that a person’s interior and exterior should be mirror images of each another.   Perhaps this is what he meant about such consistency: “There are those who preach and act accordingly; Some act correctly and do not preach well; And you have good preachers who do not practice.”  - Yevamot 63b

“Israel learns from their deeds.” - Yevamot, Tosafot 44b What the Rabbis were teaching in this succinct text is that we become what we do.   We do not necessarily become what we think.   Only actions create identity.
