Equal

One of the members of the Rothschild family spent a weekend on a small farm in the country.  When the owner gave him his bill he was startled to see the amount he was charged. "What?" Rothschild exclaimed in surprise.  "Four francs for an egg?  Have you such a scarcity of eggs?" "Not a scarcity of eggs," replied the owner, "but a scarcity of Rothschilds." Funny.  But not right.  The Torah explicitly states that we should not favor the poor over the rich and vive versa.  All must be treated equally.

Open Heart

A Jew asked a preacher, who specialized to making eulogies, to deliver one at his wife’s funeral. ”What kind you want?” the preacher asked. “A eulogy with tears or without? ”What is the difference?” the widower asked. ”The difference is $5,” replied the preacher. Of course the joke is make to make you chuckle but feelings can never be purchased.  Open you heart.

What Price?

There is an old tale about Lady Astor and Winston Churchill who were constantly goading one another.  Seated next to her at a dinner, Churchill asked if she would sleep with him for 10,000 pounds (an astronomical amount of money). She remarked that she would condescend to do that for that fortune. "Would you do it for sixpence?" he then asked. "What kind of woman do you think I am??" she responded indignantly. "We have already established that.  We are merely haggling over the price." At what price can intercity be purchased?  This is the true mark of one's morals.

The Price

"Definition of a weed: A plant who virtues have not yet been discovered." -Ralph Waldo Emerson Can you imagine the price of land if no one wanted it?  Can you imagine the price of diamonds if no one cared to buy them?  Can you imagine the pricelessness of Torah which beckons people to come and be nurtured?
