Perspective

Two men were walking through the forest.   They became lost.   Wandering aimlessly they paused at night set in.   Suddenly, a flash of lightening startled them.   For one of them the lightening was a rude shock and he commented on its ferocity.   For the other, the lightening illumined the way out. Which do you choose when darkness and fear sets in?

Perspective

“When the rich gather to take action about the poor it is called philanthropy.   When the poor gather to take action bout the rich it is called revolution.”   - Sam Levenson   Funny how things look so different when looking through the lens from a different angle.

Persevere

“Life yields only to the conqueror.   Never accept what can be gained by giving in.   You will be living off stolen goods, and your muscles will atrophy.”   -Dag Hammarskjold

Time

“The universe is merely a fleeting idea in God’s mind – a pretty uncomfortable thought, particularly if you’ve just made a down payment on a house.”   - Woody Allen , Without Feathers

Redemption

Yehuda Amichai, an Israeli poet, wrote, “Once I was sitting on the steps near the gate of David’s Citadel and I put down my two heavy baskets beside me.   A group of tourists stood there, surrounding their guide, and I became the point of reference.   ‘You see that man over there with the baskets?   A little to the right of his head there’s an arch from the Roman period.’ ‘A little to the right of his head?’ responded the tourists, ‘but he’s moving, he’s moving.’ I said to myself, redemption will come only when they are told: ‘Do you see that arch from the Roman period?   It doesn’t matter, but near it, a little to the left and then down a bit, there’s a man who has just bought fruit and vegetables for his family.”
