Thoughts on Babel

When we  read  the story of the Tower of Babel we consider the idea of unity versus independence.  There is one great lesson in working in a unified fashion.  " United we stand, divided we fall,”  said Abraham Lincoln. American statesman Benjamin Franklin put it, “ We must, indeed, all hang together, or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.”

Words

"Moses needed only 761 words to give the account of the story of Creation.  The Ten Commandments contain only 321 words, and Lincoln's Gettysburg Address has but 266 words.  The Declaration of Independence that contained a new concept of freedom was completed in 1321 words." It is remarkable how we fill space with loquacity.  Yet, if it is truth that is spoke, how many words does it really take?
