Feed the Right One

One evening a Cherokee Indian told his grandson about a battle going on inside him: “My son, it is between two wolves. One is evil: Anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is good: Joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.” The grandson thought about it and asked his grandfather, “Which wolf wins?” The old Cherokee replied, “The one that I feed.”

Personally Responsible

"A terrible fight is going on inside me -- a fight between two wolves. One is evil, and represents hate, anger, arrogance, intolerance, and superiority. The other is good, and represents joy, peace, love, tolerance, understanding, humility, kindness, empathy, generosity, and compassion. This same fight is going on inside you, inside every other person too."  The grandson then asked: "Which wolf will win?" The old man replied simply:  "The one you feed."

You Shall Love

A troubled woman came to see the Indian sage, Ramakrishna.  She said, "O master.  I do not find that I love God." And he asked her, "Is there nothing then that you love?" To this she replied, "My little nephew." And he said to her, "There is your love and service to God in your love and service to that child." - Bill Moyers Take heart, in your love there is God.

Circles

“When we pitch camp, we pitch camp in a circle.  When the eagle builds a nest, the nest is in a circle.  When we look at the horizon, the horizon is in a circle,” once said an Indian chief cited by Bill Moyers in The Power of Myth. In the final analysis, isn't all life circular?
