He believed the Jews need to do more to abandon their religion and blend in, in a book called "The Origin of the anti-Semitic Attitude."
For former generations this, by and large was the attitude by Jews and gentiles alike. Blend it. Do not stand out. Do not speak too loudly.
Unfortunately this left a generation ignorant of their heritage.
