Be You

When John Wayne heard that Kirk Douglas had given up his role as tough guy to play Vincent van Gogh in "Lust for Life" he said,
"Why are you playing a weak, sniffling guy?"
Douglas answered, "Duke, we're actors.  We just create the illusion of these big macho guys.  You know, John, you really didn't win all those wars."

"He actually thought he was John Wayne."  -Kirk Douglas

We all play various roles in our lives - great salesmen, kind-hearted confidant, bitter child, petulant spouse....   Still, the real you lies underneath all those masks.
