Accept

Two policemen came to the home of a poor melamed (teacher) and took his pillows and candlesticks in payment for a debt he owed.  The next day the melamed told the shammes about it:
“I don’t understand why they did it.  The rabbi said the night was for sleep and here they took my pillow.

Another rabbi said the night was for study and they took away my light.  How could they do such things?”

The shammes thought and said, “The wisdom of their actions lies in the fact that they came together.  The one who holds the opinion that the night is for sleep took the candlesticks.  The other believes that the night was for study so he took the pillow.”

One who accepts is wise.  One who causes another to accept and become calm is wisest.
