In a small town in Russia lived Moishe ohn yehren, “Moshe
without years.”
He had seven sisters who lived with him at home. All were older and they began to fret when they
were not getting married. So, the family
subtracted years from their age so that they would not seem so old.
By the time Moishe came around there were no years
left. –Rabbi Morris Goodblatt
Some things never change.
We agonize over our eldest children, leaving the youngest to grow uninhibited
and whole. There is a great lesson here
about learning how to leave things alone.
They are often are much better that way.
