Never Give Up Hope

Sadako Sasaki was a survivor of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima who developed leukemia at twelve years old.

“Lying in her hospital bed, Sasaki began making origami cranes to fulfill a Japanese legend that a person’s wish could be granted if 1,000 cranes were crafted….  Sasaki’s wish was for world peace and she completed 640 cranes before dying.  Classmates completed the remainder.”  -Marie Strain
