Mowing is one of the great rituals
of 20th century America.
There are 93 million U.S. households, and in 61 million of them someone
mows the lawn, according to the National Gardening Association in Burlington,
Vt.. In 1990, we spent $6.4 billion on
our lawns. We bought 6.8 million new
lawn mowers, including 1.1 million riding mowers, reports the Outdoor Power
Equipment Institute.
