It's a Tradition!

After years of marriage, a husband asks his wife
What is the reason she always cuts off the end of the brisket before cooking?
She says, it is a minhag (custom)!
He asks what is the source?
She says, I saw my mother  do this, my grandmother did this, and my great grandmother said it is the minhag.
 No one knew the reason.
Finally, a great aunt was located in a nursing home.
They asked her.
She said, she knows the reason. She asked her great grandmother, and she said," The reason I cut off the end, is because my pot is too small, and did not have room for the whole brisket!!    -Rabbi Sandy Press

Judaism is all about keep faith with the past.  Sometimes it is humorous and sometimes serious.  Yet, is is always valuable.

Of course, now in the 21 st century we must ask: are we better or worse for it?
