The Slave and the Master

"Whoever acquires himself a slave, acquires a master for himself." -kiddushin 20a

Think of this as a metaphor for the items wee desire and obtain.  Think of you computer, car, television, home electronic devices and the rest.  We acquire them in heaps.  So, the question will ultimately be asked, Who dictates how we live our lives?  Us?  Or our many acquisitions?
