What to do if You Are Not Pleased

Complaints occupy a great deal of mental space.  They take up a great deal of room in conversation.  Generally speaking, they go nowhere.  While generating great heat they tend to  to let off little steam.

“A group of Jews in the Midwest were dedicating a shul when the ceiling collapsed.  Two of them perished and immediately went o heaven.  The angel Gabriel met them and said: “Due to the accident, you arrived two weeks earlier than scheduled.  We don’t have room for you just yet.”  He called Satan below and told him to put them up for two weeks.  At the end of two weeks, Satan phoned Gabriel very excitedly.
“You have to take these two Jews out of here.  They’re going to wreck the place.”
“But what are they doing?”
“They’re organizing a fundraising drive to air condition the place.  That will put me out of business.” – Rabbi Abraham Besdin

It's always better to take action when you are dissatisfied rather than fuel the unhappiness with more unhappiness.

“Between 1305 and the early 1800’s. the House of Taxis ran a form of pony express service all over Europe….   Its couriers clad in blue and silver uniforms, crisscrossed the continent carrying messages between princes and generals, merchants and money lenders.” –Alvin Toffler, The Third Wave We may think we are the first generation consumed by rapid communication but we are not.   Throughout our history it has been a priority. Of course, now in the 21 st century we must ask: are we better or worse for it?
