Be Who You Are

In pre-war Germany, a doctor was summoned to the bedside of a very pregnant wealthy, and assimilated, woman. The doctor examined her and then said to the husband, "It is not time. Let’s play some cards while we wait."

After a while the men heard the cries of the woman, "Mon Dieu! Ah mon Dieu!"
The husband jumped from his seat but the doctor simply shrugged, pulled him back down and said, "It is not yet time."
Somewhat later they heard the woman exclaim, "Oh what pain!"
The husband urged the doctor but he said that it still was not time.
Then there was a cry "Oy vey, oy vey is mere."
The doctor then scrambled up and pronounced, "Now is the time!"

Moral: Do not wait. Be who you were born to be now.

“Between 1305 and the early 1800’s. the House of Taxis ran a form of pony express service all over Europe….   Its couriers clad in blue and silver uniforms, crisscrossed the continent carrying messages between princes and generals, merchants and money lenders.” –Alvin Toffler, The Third Wave We may think we are the first generation consumed by rapid communication but we are not.   Throughout our history it has been a priority. Of course, now in the 21 st century we must ask: are we better or worse for it?
