The Idea of Law

"In Judaism, the attitude to Law has always been that it is  merciful (for example we refer to this in the prayer Ahavah Rabbah).  In fact one of the common phrases for Law is "rachmana" (merciful) while Christian law is thought to be harsh (concerning law and sin)." -Louis Jacobs
